Dell (Unintentionallyl) Says Ubuntu Comes With “No Security”
One of the many benefits of buying Linux preinstalled on a PC is that there is no crapware. One common piece of crapware is a 30-day free trial of some antivirus suit, which is not even needed on Linux. This, however, led to an interesting quote on Dell’s website. Below is a screen-shot:
Almost certainly a mistake... I hope.

Not only does Dell say the Ubuntu machine comes with “No Security,” but they also say it has “No Productivity Software (pre-installed).” Ever heard of OpenOffice?
I suspect (and hope) that this is a mistake that will soon be corrected.

That’s no mistake, office suites have very little to do with productivity.

Why would you put clamav on a *nix box? Isn’t clamav for scanning for windows viruses? O.o

Clamav will also search for both of the *nix viruses that are in the wild, and the few hundred that have been written in the last 30 years but attack patched vectors. It will also catch a bunch of trojans, keyloggers, and rootkits that aren’t self propagating.
Mostly scans for windows viruses, though

To me productivity is something like writing software, so productivity software is compilers and scripting languages.
So, I always see that Windows comes with no productivity software preinstalled.

Yes, ClamAV is able to scan for viruses on GNU/Linux in the same way that satellites can scan for Savannah lions in the middle of Antarctica.
