Regarding Microsoft's campaign, I must disagree with you -they are simply considering those people idiots, by showing them Vista and claiming it's something new. It's like showing a sports car fan a Murcielago and saying it's the new Veyron! The idea with the Ubuntu Experiment is good, and since there are plenty of people who don’t know what Linux is, it might work.
