I really want to install fedora on my PC. But it does not has WUBI.
hey fedora developers! Please make WUBI like installer for FEDORA.

I am completely sure that it will increase usasge of Fedora.
The main barrier(for home user) to use linux is installing it on seperate partition with windows.

I use Ubuntu with WUBI. I like it very much. Please Please Please create WUBI for Fedora. Please Please Please.

considering that f9 runs just fine (runlevel 3) on my old pentium150/48mb fujitsu laptop, i’ll be very happy to see a fedora version wich can be directly installed onto it, instead of yum upgrading from fc5. also i do not understand why do we have to use an installer wich limits the usage of fedora to gui-capable machines.

I hope the new pkg thing is optional, so u can just use yum and/or package kit, as the web portal thing for packages is what turned me away from linux mint, right back to where i started… Fedora (PS I like fedora best even over ubuntu but i use ubuntu cuz nm-applet would not work for me… )

Perhaps they should make a renewed commitment to the 3.x branch of kDE. For many business users, KDE4 is a disaster and has kept me from upgrading to 9 until I have the time and energy to install and then compile KDE from source. Sometimes OLD features are better. By the way, I also agree with the commenter regarding X and nVidia. Again, I find myself stuck on FC8.

As for the others that ARE compatible - i.e. better suspend/resume and multiple monitors - these are works in progress. Progress may seem slow, but it is held up by many issues - you can follow most of these discussions at the kernel mailing list.

As hardware power and interface standardisation efforts improve, so will these features.

It’s more than a little unreasonable to blame Fedora (or any other GNU/Linux distribution) for something that’s out of their control and clearly not their fault.

shollomon: These goals are not compatible with Fedora’s goal - see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ForbiddenItems. There are millions of good reasons for these - in my opinion - very wise decision.

If you feel otherwise, there are a significant number of GNU/Linux distributions that fulfill your needs. Please feel free to not use Fedora and choose any of those instead.

I had the same problem as the poster above. My old laptop wasn’t able to boot Live CD, stayed in endless swapping. Fedora 9 XFCE live wasn’t available at the time. I set up an NFS server with the install DVD and made a network install. Running XFCE fine now.

Here’s a brainwave: How about X that works with Nvidia drivers out of the box? How about an easy way to get audio and video codecs that desktop users want to use? How about an easy way to get real flash? How about a dialog to set properties in individual Gnome screen savers? How about suspend and resume that works dead solid every time, out of the box? How about decent support for multiple monitors/external monitors on laptops and monitors and sound through docking stations?

Users want everything they expect to work to work out of the box without fiddling. Don’t talk about new features until the little stuff, things that require no thought or user input at all in windows or mac, all works correctly, first time, every time. Pay some attention to fit and finish. I know its not as fun, but it makes all the difference between a truly usable system and one that’s merely tolerable.

Let me add some wishes

I would like an L4Fedora (as in L4Linux)
I would like a PJLMon utility (like in Windows)
I would like OpenCL (as in Apple’s proposal) support for ATI / Intel video cards
I would like Fedora to rule the World (though I m late)
