What to Give a Linux Geek
If you only think of the desktop and the server market when you think of Linux or if you need a present for a Linux geek, check out Linux Devices’ list of the top ten Linux-powered devices to give a Linux geek. Anyone who knows what Linux is knows that Linux is used on the desktop and on the server, but this list shows that Linux is also used a lot on mobile devices, such as cell phones.
There is also a list of gadgets that run Windows which you should avoid giving to any Linux geek. Comparing the two lists, you might notice is that while the Linux list consists of inexpensive laptops, cellphones, and mp3 players, the Windows list consists of… well.. obscure junk. This includes (no joke) an automated bartender, running Windows XP. Windows XP may not be stable enough for my PC, but I guess it works just fine for an automated bartender. Cheers!

Linux brainless geek users are always slagging of Microsoft. WHY?
I use Linux, purely because it does not have pop ups, spyware and for Internet Banking
Linux is drab, it is dull grey ,..99,99999% of “themes” contain drab grey,…. with other grey themes as a bonus.
Bill Gates products although classed as “unsafe” are 500 % more polished in their finish and look heaps better on any Laptop or Desktop PC than the depressing garbage that is linux.
When Linux geeks get off their lazy butts and produce something of the same aesthetic quality as rich Bill’s
then they can stand on any rooftop and shout to the world

You obviously haven’t been looking well at the situation, otherwise you would see the many advancements linux has made in eye candy.

Grey themes? Got any links?! I’m finding most themes are a bit too bright and shiny for me aka *too much* eye candy. Perhaps you are using fluxbox?
I rank KDE and OSX GUI asthetics way beyond XP or Vista, all of which I use on a daily or near-daily basis. (I rarely use Gnome, which is why I don’t comment on it).
But hey, at least you use Linux to some extent.
Most guys I know that prefer WinOS (when preference can also correspond to usage) seem actually fearful of Linux.
Best Regards,
DrCR

Windows, especially Vista is a turd. No how much you polish a turd, it is still a turd.

If Santa wants to give this GNU/Linux geek a dual socket- F server with dual quad-core Opterons, 16 gB ECC RAM, 6 500 gB SATA drives in the box and a few outside for backup, I would graciously accept. I need a new terminal server. My present one is already three years old and running out of storage. I have no idea what I would do with it but it would be able to run this whole town, install 30 PCs in about 15 minutes, and neat stuff like that.
My son is not trusting in Santa but building one for the family. He is such a fine boy. Only a few years ago, he was hopelessly in love with that other OS, but now he has seen the light. I may retire just so I can stay home and use the system.
Happy New Year to all.

Hey!, what made you want to write on What to Give a Linux Geek? I was wondering, because I have been thinking about this since last Monday.
