Sorry, this is a few days old, but it is still very interesting. It is based on Java/JavaScript, so it’s not just a Windows-only thing. (It works on Linux.) There is a demo as well as more information here.
Most of us just use OpenOffice, AbiWord, or another standard word processor for everyday use, but LyX is supposed to do something just a little different. From the LyX Website and a Linux.com article I gather that the main advantage to normal users is that you don’t have to worry as much about making you document look good for printing. Just try it.
