Introducing…. the new Linux Loop! As you can see, it’s rather different from what you’ve seen before. Actually, its also quite different from the preview I showed off earlier.

As I mentioned earlier, comment threading should now work and I hope that the text will be easier to read. Plus, there are a whole bunch of formatting features that I’m sure you will soon be noticing.

This isn’t a finished design, though. I still want your input on what can be improved. Particularly in the first few days, please tell me if something is broken or doesn’t look right.

If you’ve ever tried to upgrade a WP installation plus a bunch of static html to a single WP install in an existing directory, I’m sure you understand how painful it is. If you haven’t, just trust me and don’t try it yourself. :-)

In addition to the design changes, there will be some scheduling changes. Posts will no longer be daily. It’s been almost two years of daily posts without missing a day. It’s time now to move to a less frequent schedule. From now on, you can expect several posts each week, just not 7. This should allow time for longer and more in depth posts.

Enjoy!

Keep your font point large and your colors from burning my retinas(black text on white hurts) and after that I don’t give a crap… but in all seriousness it looks very nice. I’m not sure about the orange, but it’s your site if like it keep it.

I like the direction the design is going.

    - As to the comments above, you might want to try darkening the blue a wee bit, or making the text not black (maybe something like rifle green (414833) might work, or maybe even a bit darker).

    - Also adding some texture to the logo (and a bit of brighter orange to go with that, maybe amber (ffbf00)?), a couple pixel thin white or beige border might work too.

    - Another thing, it might work to make the grey background more than just solid colour, something subtle (no idea what, kernel source in the same colour as background but a few % lighter? just a random idea). Although, making the logo and the orange brighter according to the point above might be lively enough.

otherwise, excellent work, I likes it.

the light blue background is indeed eye-straying ;(

manny – I can’t win, can I? That comment was referring to the previously planned yellow background. That’s why it’s blue….
