Brilliant Brainstorms is a weekly summary of some of the best/most interesting brainstorms from the Ubuntu Brainstorm site.

One of the worst things that can happen to you is making some change, such as applying an update, only to discover that it messed something up at a critical time. To help prevent this, it would be great to have a way of undoing an update that causes problems.

The philosophy of making small improvements on a consistent basis is great, up to a point. At some point, you just have to start fresh and rethink things. A parallel testing version of Ubuntu would be excellent for this purpose.

As I am sure many of you are aware, I think that everything should be made smooth and seamless, both in terms of looks (animation) and functionality. This idea, if implemented, would just improve shutdown and reduce the risk of losing unsaved changes.

I am not a fan of operating system branding on the pre-OS level, but making GRUB look better (or replacing GRUB) would be great. Particularly if an all-graphical system could be put in its place.

I do like having my desktop organized, but the chance that I will keep it organized is, well, low. I suspect many people are like me in this respect, so letting you configure how you want your desktop icons to be arranged would be great.
